Founder of Williams-Sonoma dies at 100

The founder of the luxury cookware retailer, Williams-Sonoma, Chuck Williams, died on Saturday in San Francisco, aged 100. Williams Sonoma Inc has become a global, public listed, force including brands such as Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, and West Elm, that entered the Australian market almost 4 years ago.

“The Williams-Sonoma family has lost a dear friend, an inspiring mentor and our favourite cook. Chuck Williams’ spirit will live on forever in our kitchens – and in our hearts,” the company said in a Facebook post. Chuck Williams died of natural causes in his San Francisco home on Saturday.

Chuck Williams opened his first store in 1956 in downtown Sonoma, specializing in French cookware. According to a company fact sheet on its founder, Williams had reviewed more than 11,000 Williams-Sonoma recipes since 1992, and he firmly believed that a dinner party should consist of no more than six people.

As a valued client of Recruit Career Consult in Australia, we send our condolences to the company at this sad time.
